This is an excellent and actionable distillation of the new guidelines, Dr. Ashori.
What's powerful here is viewing these not as a checklist, but as a synergistic system for reducing the total inflammatory and endothelial load on the vascular system. Each habit, from improving sleep architecture to managing blood pressure, isn't just a separate lever. They are interconnected dials on a central control panel that governs vascular integrity.
You can't turn the 'diet' dial to 10 and ignore the 'sleep' dial set to 2 and expect the system to function optimally. It’s a masterclass in treating the body as the integrated system it is, rather than a collection of isolated risk factors.
Great work translating complex guidelines into a clear, actionable protocol.
My experience was a result of working at a stressful job through the COVID shutdown. I was chained to a home-office desk, not eating right, not sleeping, not exercising, just trying to get through each day.
I am wiser now. But I see coworkers who have 2 jobs to make ends meet, not eating right, not exercising. Just trying to get through each day.
I tell them this: if I cannot be an example, at least let me be a warning of what your future will be if nothing changes.
Thank you for sharing this here, Patty. It's so valuable to have the wisdom of those who've experienced certain things first-hand. By no means is it easy but any effort in that direction will change outcomes. With my health coaching I want people to develop the necessary habits and believe that their actions will have a major positive impact on their health. In mainstream medicine we don't often do an adequate job of nurturing this agency and patient empowerment.
Great point! But I think this document references limiting sugar in actions 4, 5, and 8. Though sugar doesn't have to be stopped, it's a very small part of the Mediterranean diet, and limiting it is the only way to drive down Triglycerides in most of us. And of course, a fiber forward diet would mean switching from simple carbs to complex carbs, such as fiber.
Absolutely. We can enjoy all the advantages of being Americans without having to partake in the less favorable parts of our culture. Amplifying the positives of any culture is how any society progresses.

Great advice Dr Ashori! Agree with your lifestyle first (exercise and nutrition) over supplements without proven benefit.
I can vouch for the fact that it is much better to change your habits and diet prior to having a stroke, rather than after.

No mention of sugar…. !

You show the picture of what appears to be a "smart watch". It kills with radiation.
The watch is optional. As are all these interventions I've listed. Each person has to make the best health decision for themselves.
You left out the most important item. #NEVA.
Never Ever Vaccinate Again.
