I really appreciated this line: “The best primary care doctors know when to say no and they’ll say no a lot.” That skill is undervalued but so critical. Especially in an age of overtesting and overtreating. As a UK GP, I’m envious of the time and continuity you describe. It’s the kind of relationship we all went into medicine hoping to have.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. In many ways the GPs in the NHS are what the world tries to model though I know that the GPs individually work perhaps harder than in any system.

Thank you for your support! If this resonates with people then it will hopefully spark a new level of expectation from our primary care doctors. And let's be honest, the mainstream healthcare system isn't conducive to a sustainable way of practicing primary care.
