Why not just measure inflammatory biomarkers and maybe correlate with symptoms? Every one of these symptoms can have multiple causes tat have nothing to do with inflammation.

Great point. Whenever possible we want to use the most accurate test for inflammation. Some may not be able to afford or have the access to get inflammatory markers done. Symptoms have been shown to be fairly accurate. But you bring up an important point, just because symptoms exist, it doesn't mean it's from inflammation. And just because serologic inflammatory markers are positive it doesn't mean it's inflammation.

Great article! Does stress lead to inflammation and what do you recommend for structured downtime?

Thank you! Some stress can hinder the body's ability to compensate for inflammation. The body seems to need a certain amount of structured downtime to recover from oxidative stress, inflammation, and to rebuild and repair tissue. Instead of suggesting a single downtime activity, it's often best to tune into the signals of the body that might indicate stress, write them down or mentally track them, and then try different downtime activities from walking, singing, dancing, napping, sipping beverages with friends, exercise, or reading and assess how much the sensation of stress relieved. In my TREND framework D is for downtime and R is for the relationship we have with ourselves and everything around us. The healthier R is the less D you need. This is perhaps why some people seem to be energizer bunnies while the other 90% of us need to a healthy dose of D the more we experience life.

This was such a helpful and descriptive essay. I often read about inflammation and feel overwhelmed but your conciseness helps make it understandable. I am so appreciative for this.
